Wildlife Iceland offers a range of different birdwatching tours along the Northeast Iceland Birding Trail. We offer both self-drive and group tours. Our expert guides have in-depth knowledge of the birds and the geography of the region as they were brought up locally.

Iceland Birding

A fifteen-day, fourteen night tour. Includes guided tour from Reykjavik in South Iceland to Snæfellsnes peninsula in West Iceland, Westfjords and up to North-East Iceland, with stops at various excellent birding sites, indluding Lake Mývatn area and Langanes. Then we will go to East Iceland and around Iceland back to the south part. We will also visit the Golden Triangle (Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall and Geysir). Boat tours in Breiðafjörður and Skjálfandi Bay are also included for bird- and whale watching.

Mývatn, a Paradise for Bird Watchers

Lake Mývatn is a paradise for birdwatchers. This center of duck-production of Europe is simply loaded with birds, including many Barrow’s Goldeneyes and Harlequin Ducks. Typical list of birds will include 50-60 species, and most likely including Gyr Falcon.

Langanes – Birdcliffs “Stóri karl” – Skálar – Fontur

Marvellous Birding Spot – Culture and History – Lighthouse at Land´s End.
Langanes is a veritable outdoor paradise teeming with birdlife, great for nature study and hiking as well as some tangible history.
Availability: May – August (reservation required).
Departure: Farm Hostel Ytra Lón (near Þórshöfn).
